One of the most beautiful spots for photoshoots in Cancun, the Punta Cancun Lighthouse. You can see “many” pictures of this red lighthouse. Well, it is located on km. 9 of Cancun’s Hotel Zone.
How to get to Punta Cancun Lighthouse
There are two ways to get to the famous lighthouse. One is for free but you will have to walk and get a bit wet. The other one is through a hotel. I will explain both.
Buy a day pass at Hyatt Ziva Cancun
The lighthouse is located right by hotel Hyatt Ziva. And it is the simplest way to get there. Actually, it is legal to walk through the hotel to get to the lighthouse. But as it is an all-inclusive complex, and some people have used the excuse of the lighthouse to use the hotel for free. That’s why they don’t let people pass that easily.
But you can buy a day pass for $105 USD from 9:00 – 17:00. All you can eat and drink. Or a Full-day pass for $180 USD from 9:00 – 23:00. The food, drinks, and service are good. Also, it is a nice beach.
Personally, I don’t think is worth it. There are better hotels to spend the day.
Walk to the lighthouse
As I wrote before, you can go there for free and walk. It is a 20-minute walk.
First, you need to arrive at the closest beach entrance. It is right at the Xcaret offices, Mocambo Restaurant, Ultramar entrance. If you don’t know where is it, you can check at google maps here.
Once you are there, you have to walk to the right. Pass over the pier and keep walking. Then, you will need to stop because of the sea. There will be a security guard that won’t let you pass through the “high lands”. So you will have to use some stairs that are on the sea. Not very deep. Approximately, 70 cm. deep. But if you have some equipment, can be “dangerous”.
After that, you will just keep on walking until you reach the Punta Cancun Lighthouse.
